Chargeback Policy

Chargeback Policy

Effective Date: November 1, 2025
Last Updated: November 1, 2025

1. Purpose

The purpose of this Chargeback Policy is to protect Trivial Bioworks from fraudulent or improper payment disputes, ensure fair resolution of legitimate billing issues, and maintain compliance with federal regulations, payment processor requirements, and card-network rules.

Trivial Bioworks provides clear ordering, fulfillment, shipping, complaint, and refund procedures. Customers are required to follow these procedures before initiating any chargeback with their financial institution.

This policy applies to all purchases made through the Trivial Bioworks website.

2. Customer Responsibility Prior to Filing a Chargeback

Before initiating a chargeback with a card issuer or bank, customers must:

  1. Contact Trivial Bioworks Support at info@trivialbioworks.com

  2. Submit a formal complaint or claim through the appropriate Trivial Bioworks online form

  3. Provide all requested supporting evidence, including but not limited to:

    • Order number

    • Photographs or videos

    • Tracking screenshots

    • Proof of billing discrepancies

  4. Allow Trivial Bioworks the full investigation window, typically 3–5 business days

Failure to follow these required steps may result in:

  • Denial of refunds or replacements

  • Delayed or declined resolution

  • Restriction or termination of ordering privileges

Trivial Bioworks reserves the right to dispute any chargeback that is premature, improper, or inconsistent with posted policies and to submit full supporting documentation to the payment processor.

3. Valid Reasons for Filing a Chargeback

Chargebacks should be used only for legitimate banking-related issues, including:

  • Unauthorized transactions verified by the issuing bank

  • Duplicate charges

  • Confirmed card compromise or fraud

  • Processor-level technical errors

  • Verified billing errors not resolved through Trivial Bioworks Support

Most issues can be resolved directly through Trivial Bioworks without involving a card issuer. Initiating a chargeback should be a last resort.

4. Invalid or Non-Qualifying Chargeback Reasons

Chargebacks filed for reasons outside legitimate billing disputes will be formally contested.

4.1 Delivery & Shipping Situations

Invalid chargebacks include, but are not limited to:

  • Claiming non-delivery when tracking confirms “Delivered”

  • Filing a chargeback instead of submitting a Package Protection claim

  • Filing disputes after declining or removing Package Protection

  • Filing disputes before carrier or Trivial Bioworks timelines have elapsed

  • Filing disputes for porch theft or misdelivery without following proper claim procedures

4.2 Product-Related Concerns

Invalid product-related disputes include:

  • Dissatisfaction with product appearance without objective evidence

  • Claims involving reconstitution, dosing, biological outcomes, or experimental results

  • Any claim related to human or veterinary use

  • Subjective claims such as “did not work” or “felt nothing”

All Trivial Bioworks products are sold for research use only, and performance-based claims are not applicable.

4.3 Order Processing & Customer Decisions

Chargebacks will be disputed when based on:

  • Buyer’s remorse

  • Failure to review order details prior to checkout

  • Failure to apply discount codes before purchase

  • Attempted cancellation after fulfillment has begun or after shipment

  • Submission of incorrect or incomplete shipping information

4.4 Abuse or Policy Violations

Invalid chargebacks also include:

  • Filing disputes instead of providing requested evidence

  • Filing multiple unsupported or bad-faith disputes

  • Attempting to bypass Trivial Bioworks complaint, refund, or claim procedures

Trivial Bioworks documents all orders with fulfillment photographs, weight verification, tracking logs, and quality checks specifically to defend against improper disputes.

5. Evidence Submitted in Chargeback Disputes

When contesting a chargeback, Trivial Bioworks may submit comprehensive evidence to the issuing bank or processor, including:

  • Order invoice and IP address logs

  • Billing and shipping address verification

  • Acceptance of Terms, Policies, and Package Protection selections at checkout

  • Fulfillment photos, packaging verification, and weight audits

  • Carrier tracking data and delivery confirmation

  • Customer communication history

  • Complaint or claim investigation records

  • Proof that Package Protection was declined, if applicable

This documentation is typically sufficient to support reversal in favor of Trivial Bioworks.

6. Consequences of Invalid or Fraudulent Chargebacks

Customers who file illegitimate chargebacks or attempt to obtain products without proper payment may be subject to:

  • Permanent account closure

  • Cancellation of current or future orders

  • Reporting to card networks for dispute abuse

  • Fraud investigation depending on severity

  • Permanent refusal of service

Trivial Bioworks maintains a zero-tolerance policy toward chargeback fraud.

7. Chargeback Fees and Financial Losses

Each chargeback filed against Trivial Bioworks results in:

  • Processor chargeback fees (typically $20–$35)

  • Loss of product, shipping, and handling costs

  • Administrative labor and compliance costs

  • Increased processor risk scores

As a result:

  • Trivial Bioworks may seek reimbursement of chargeback fees for disputes later proven invalid or reversed

  • Accounts with repeated issues may be placed under manual review or permanently restricted

8. Resolving Billing Issues Without Chargebacks

Customers are strongly encouraged to contact Trivial Bioworks directly for billing concerns. Most issues can be resolved through:

  • Authorized refunds under the Refund & Replacement Policy

  • Partial credits when appropriate

  • Correction of duplicate charges

  • Verification of billing discrepancies

  • Replacement or reshipment through approved claim channels

Initiating a chargeback first often prevents Trivial Bioworks from assisting.

9. Package Protection and Chargebacks

Customers who decline Package Protection acknowledge that:

  • Trivial Bioworks is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage once the carrier accepts the package

  • Chargebacks for loss or theft without Package Protection will be disputed

Package Protection is the exclusive mechanism for:

  • Replacement shipments

  • Reshipments

  • Coverage for porch theft or misdelivery

Chargebacks are not a substitute for proper claims.

10. Final Determinations

All chargeback-related disputes, evidence submissions, and enforcement actions are handled by Trivial Bioworks Support, Quality Assurance, and Compliance teams in coordination with our payment processor.

Once the card issuer renders a final decision, the matter is considered closed and non-negotiable.

11. Policy Updates

Trivial Bioworks reserves the right to modify this Chargeback Policy at any time to align with:

  • Banking and card-network regulations

  • Payment processor requirements

  • Operational or compliance changes

The most current version will always be published on the Trivial Bioworks website. Continued use of the website constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
